M-1 now open to Fedor in UFC without Co-Promotion



During a recent interview between Fedor Emelianenko’s manager, Vadim Finkelstein and a popular Russian magazine (translated by LowKick.com), we heard a change of heart on M-1’s part on negotiations with the UFC.

A big sticking point for the UFC has always been that they are unwilling to do a co-promotion with M-1 Global. Now that hindrance keeping fight fans from seeing the last emperor work through the UFC may be removed. Perhaps some positive came out of the recent loss to Werdum for Emelianenko’s legacy.
Here is the highlights from the recent interview.
Will you ever be able to reach an agreement with the UFC?
I think yes. But not on the same terms they offered us before. We will not let ourselves to get owned. Fedor became so popular not inside the Octagon. So, long story short: 1. We would like to receive guaranteed payments. I know that if we agree for percents, they will cheat us. 2. Maybe not a co-promotion (like we offered before), but at least co-branding. 3. They also will have to permit Fedor participating in Sambo competitions, and during our last negotiations…

…Dana White posted a little smiley face to his Twitter after seeing Fedor Emelianenko’s loss via submission to Fabricio Werdum. White and Fedor have had a long-going disagreement with Fedor’s potential signing to the UFC. This tweet seems to show that the two aren’t on very good terms right now….

…Fedor Emelianenko’s loss Saturday night to Fabricio Werdum is a shock and a bit saddening for Fedor’s fight fans, like me. However, now that Fedor has lost his second fight, perhaps he can relax a bit for the next time he enters the cage or ring. Why do I say this? First, he hasn’t lost professionally in ten years - that’s 10 years. Wow. His record is now 31-wins, 2-losses, and 1-no contest. Fedor stated before his Brett Rogers fight that he will lose again sometime, and this was the time. There’s no more uncertainty for Fedor. The pressure is off. Second, he’s picked up a loss, now it’s time to learn from his mistake and fight again with his new knowledge and that is that he’s great standing up. In the future, if he knocks down an opponent who happens to be well versed in jiu-jitsu and then jumps on this opponent with the intention of pounding him into unconsciousness, he might well remember the triangle choke/arm-bar that Werdum submitted him to and back off and invite his opponent back to his feet. TapouT to be banned by UFC | Caged Insider

President and co-founder of M-1 Global Vladim Finkelchtein, is making the accusation that the UFC is preventing a potential deal between the clothing company and Fedor Emelianenko. TapouT created a Fedor shirt that most likely will never be sold in stores, due to the fact that the UFC threatened the clothing company with a lifetime ban if the shirt

…Q: When can fans get Fedor’s Tapout shirt:
A: I’m afraid to disappoint the fans, but it seems like, never. Literally today they called me from the TAPOUT firm and told me that they were contacted by the representatives of the UFC, and that under the threat of tearing up all the contracts with their organization demanded that TAPOUT categorically stop producing all the shirts from the line of Fedor Emelianenko.
This is how Dana White feels about Fedor. So tell me, what can we think about such person after this, that even in things that have nothing to do with UFC, he still tries to mess it up for us. So it seems that the shirts will just stay a rarity that fans will see in pictures. Say thanks to UFC and their politics of monopoly….

MMA Profile: Fedor Emelianenko

Fedor Emelianenko was born September 28, 1976 and is a Russian heavyweight MMA fighter.

…title in Sambo and Judo in 1997 and also earned a bronze medal in Russian Judo Championship. His study to strike was under Coach Alexander Vasilievich Michkov. HE debuted in MMA for Japanese RINGS organization and was not allowed to make any head strikes. He started Sambo mixed martial arts in 2000 at 25 years of age as at that time he had no money.
To improve his strength and skills, Emelianenko trains him two or three times a day. Fedor is now trained with sport specific training in kickboxing, grappling and boxing. He covers 7-9 miles, twice a day and works out by pull ups, crunches and dips. HE travels to Kisovodsk for high altitude training once or twice a year. His recently published book has all these unique techniques.
Emelianenko has several people on his team, some of which include:, Muay Thai coach Ruslan Nagnibeda, Doctor Oleg Neustroev, grappling coach Voronov, boxing coach Michkiv and his training partners Roman Zentsov, and his brother Aleksander.
